Cleanin' Up

So, I had a decent amount of spam messages, and a backlog of old drafts. I thought it would be a good idea to delete those.

Welp, in the process, I deleted a couple of posts and whatnot. Whoops.

Girls, Games, and Surveys.

What's up now, Scientific American? Girls playin' games all the time? Why, this is totally a landmark finding!

Scientists conducted a survey of some 7,000 players who were logged on to a game called EverQuest II. And they discovered some interesting things. First off, the average age of the gamers surveyed was 31. And that playing time tended to increase with age. Which is also where the sex differences come in. The female gamers actually logged more time online: an average of 29 hours a week, versus 25 for the males, with the top players putting in 57 hours a week on the girl’s side, and 51 for the guys. What’s more, it looks like women are more likely to lie about how much they really play. The researchers found that the gals tended to lowball how long they spend glued to the screen.

And so, let the sweeping generalization that women are going to lie about hours plugged into a game come forth.

So, never ask a women her age. Or how much time she spends defeating the dark elves to rebuild the world of Norrath.

Also, what's up with this? I know it's old, but seriously...

I'm not really upset about these things, moreso than I am just honestly wondering why did they even bother writing such crappy articles.

Not In Michigan.

I'm back in Chicago now, and it feels good. Staying out in the suburbs with my boyfriend's family wasn't bad at all. I had some sort of meat-based meal each day I was there, and his family was extremely nice. The bus ride to and from Michigan wasn't all that great though.

Now that I'm home, I have more time to spend on the website. I spent the past day converting my website for using with Habari, and I'm rather pleased with the results. It's nowhere near done, though. Unfortunately, being home also means that it's time for working and getting other things done. Since school isn't in session, I don't think I have to worry about getting too stressed out about anything yet.

But when I do get stressed, shows like Metaloclypse allows me to keep on keepin' on.

Heading Off To Michigan Today.

I'm looking forward to being even more cold than I usually am in Chicago. (No, not really.) However, I am excited about taking the Megabus, and seeing all the things one could see as they travel through a couple of Midwestern states. I am pumped.

Habari Gani?

I'm trying out the Habari CMS / Blogging engine because I'm sick and tired of b2Evolution's here's-the-kitchen-sink admin space, as well as not being able to edit templates easily. Not only that, I had just taken my first (and hopefully not my last) Swahili class this past semester and it was a pleasant surprise to see a CMS named after a Swahili word. Superficial, I know. But whatever, curiosity bit and I found myself installing Habari.

It's really simple and minimal, and the admin is very nice. I tried Textpattern a couple of days ago, but the admin interface left a little to be desire as far as organization goes. Before trying Textpattern, I've most recently used b2Evolution for my blogging needs, as well as Blogger throughout my high school years (oh so many years ago). I also thought about installing Serendipity, but I ended up being more intrigued by Habari by the end of the evening.

Expect my older tutorials to pop up as I migrate to this engine, as well as new posts. I backed my previous blog up, and I'm ready to start working with this one! Hopefully by the time school starts up for me again, I'll have my own personal theme all ready to go. But for now, this simple one will do.

EDIT: Screw typos.
